Ready, Set, Eat Pho!

What: Pho Eating Competition

 

Where: Center of the Plaza

The Plaza at Tysons Corner Center, 1961 Chain Bridge Rd, 2nd Fl, McLean, VA

 

When:

  • Saturday, Aug 12, 2023 at 1:00 - 1:45 PM

  • Sunday, Aug 13, 2023 at 1:15 - 2:00 PM

 

To Enter: $10 registration fee on day of festival

[Pre-registrants who do not check-in at the NOVAL-DC tent least 15 minutes prior to competition may forfeit their spot]

 

RULES:

  • Contestants must be at least 18 years old at time of competition.

  • Contestant under the age of 18 must have the waiver signed by a legal parent or guardian in the presence of VietFest staff.

  • The round will begin when a minimum of 8 contestants are present.

  • Contestants cannot begin to eat until starting signal is given.

  • Hoisin sauce and Sriracha sauce will be available and may be added only. Adding water to the broth will not be allowed.

  • Contestant may drink from the bowl but excess broth running down the chin will get a disqualification. 

  • The whole bowl must be finish down to the last drop (noodles, meat & pho). 

  • Visible symptoms of illness will disqualify contestant.

  • VietFest has the sole, complete and final discretion regarding all contest related matters including basis for disqualifications and victory.

 

**The contestant who consumes the pho in the quickest amount of time in the shall be deemed the winner.

 

**Winner shall receive a $100 gift card and the admiration and adoration of the Vietnamese and American people everywhere.

Crawfish Eating Competition

What: Crawfish Eating Competition

 

Where: Center of the Plaza (Sponsored by Hot N’ Juicy Crawfish)

The Plaza at Tysons Corner Center, 1961 Chain Bridge Rd, 2nd Fl, McLean, VA

 

When:

  • Saturday, Aug 12, 2023 at 1:45 - 2:30 PM

  • Sunday, Aug 13, 2023 at 2:00 - 2:30 PM

 

To Enter:  $10 registration fee and a completed form must be submitted by deadline and only the first 15 contestants will compete.

 

[Pre-registrants who do not check-in at the NOVAL-DC tent least 15 minutes prior to competition may forfeit their spot]

 

RULES:

  • Contestants must be at least 18 years old at time of competition.

  • Contestant under the age of 18 must have the waiver signed by a legal parent or guardian in the presence of VietFest staff.

  • Contestants cannot begin to eat until starting signal is given.

  • The whole crawfish tail meat must be eaten. The quickest to finish one pound of crawfish and be confirmed by the judges is deemed the winner.

  • Crawfish seasoning will be Hot & Juicy style!

  • Visible symptoms of illness will disqualify contestant.

  • VietFest has the sole, complete and final discretion regarding all contest related matters including basis for disqualifications and victory.

 

**The contestant who consumes crawfish the fastest shall be deemed the winner.

 

**Winner shall receive a $100 gift card to Hot N' Juicy Crawfish and the admiration and adoration of the Vietnamese and American people everywhere.
